Ghana faces significant economic hurdles with mounting debt, excessive taxation, unemployment, and currency volatility affecting all sectors. As external debt repayments loom, strengthening domestic financial markets must precede international funding to create lasting solutions rather than temporary fixes. The current taxation approach requires reform—increasing rates without improving compliance is unsustainable. Instead, simplifying processes, leveraging technology, and incentivizing compliance would create a fairer system. Similarly, debt management needs strategic direction, with new borrowing strictly channeled toward productive, job-creating sectors.
